How to sign a PDF on Android
Updated 2026-07-123 min read
Signing a PDF used to mean printing it, signing the paper, and scanning it back. On an Android phone you can skip all three. This guide walks through signing a PDF with Sigvo, from opening the file to sharing the signed copy.
The short answer
Open the PDF in Sigvo, tap to add a signature, draw or type it, drag it onto the signature line, and export the signed PDF. Everything happens on your phone, with no internet connection and no account.
What you need
- An Android phone running Android 7.0 or newer.
- The PDF you want to sign, either saved on the phone or shared to it from email or a chat.
- Sigvo installed from Google Play.
You do not need a printer, a scanner, or a desktop computer.
Step by step
- Open the document. Launch Sigvo and pick the PDF, or open the file from another app and choose Sigvo. Word and Excel files work too; Sigvo converts them to PDF first.
- Add your signature. Tap the signature tool. Draw with a finger, type your name in a script font, or import a signature image you saved earlier.
- Place it. Drag the signature onto the line, pinch to resize it, and rotate it so it sits straight. Snap guides help you line it up with the page.
- Export. Save a flattened PDF or share it straight back to email or chat. The signature is baked in, with no watermark.
Draw, type, or import
Each method suits a different moment.
- Draw when you want the document to carry your real handwriting. A finger works; a stylus is steadier.
- Type when you want a consistent, legible signature. Pick one of the built-in script fonts and Sigvo turns your name into a signature image.
- Import when you already have a signature saved as a PNG or JPG. Sigvo can remove a white background so only the ink shows.
Save your signature once and the next document takes a single tap.
Place it precisely
A signature that overlaps the printed text looks rushed. In Sigvo you drag the signature freely, resize it with a pinch, and rotate it to match the line. Add your initials, a date, or a stamp wherever the form asks for them, and use undo to step back if a placement is off.
Sign every page
Long agreements often need a signature or initials on each page. Move between pages and sign them one by one, or apply the same placement to every page at once to save time.
Is a phone signature legally binding?
Sigvo adds a visual signature to your documents. It is not a substitute for a qualified electronic signature service, such as an eIDAS qualified e-signature or your country's legally certified electronic signature. A visual signature is fine for many everyday forms and agreements; when a contract requires a certified signature, use a service licensed for that purpose.
Keep your documents private
Because Sigvo signs on the device, the PDF never leaves your phone. There is no upload and no account, so a contract with personal details stays with you. If you scan a paper form to sign it, the camera image is cropped and enhanced locally, then discarded.
